Solid Modeling Solutions - Five Year Anniversary

Solid Modeling Solutions celebrates its fifth anniversary this year. The company was founded in February, 1998 and produced the first beta test version of SMLib in July. We signed our first customers that summer, and the first official release of SMLib was released in October. Jim Presti, the president of SMS stated "It has been an incredible five years. We have enjoyed terrific customers with whom we have worked closely. Each year we release a major feature upgrade based on feedback from those customers. It has been particularly satisfying to serve the needs of our customers who in turn are producing advanced geometric capabilities embedded in their products."

Both the SAT and openNURBS translators are out of beta test and are now officially released. Both have been shipping in commercial products for a number of months. The SAT translator has had a number of major improvements since the last release, and the openNURBS translator has had very few bugs reported. More extensions to the SAT translator will be provided with the next release.
